Year 12 Student represents Australia in Physics

Year 12 student, Lydia, has been selected as one of only eight students nationwide to represent Australia in the 2022 Asian Physics Olympiad.

Lydia travelled to Canberra to join her teammates from around Australia to compete in the 22nd Asian Physics Olympiad, hosted by India from 23 to 31 May 2022. This year the competition was presented in an online format, with more than twenty countries competing.

Physics has always held a fascination for Lydia. ‘I think what interests me most about science, and particularly physics, is being able to understand the fundamental principles of our universe. I’m a naturally curious person so I find it endlessly satisfying when I can finally answer certain questions and solve different problems! Aside from physics, I’m also involved in debating and public speaking, future problem solving and am passionate about the environment.’

On 20 June 2022, the students will return to Canberra to be presented with their classic, green competitor blazers at Parliament House.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Lydia. What an inspiring achievement!
